A bit about me...
I’m a take charge kinda girl… and along with being a take charge kinda girl comes anxiety…. (or at least it does for me – yes RESPONSIBILITY !?!?!?! First, I was responsible as the president of my college fraternity (an honor fraternity thank you very much) Next, came the career so I was now RESPONSIBLE for my team of personal trainers, fitness instructors, lifeguards And then, for my FAMILY, hubby, kids, and my fur babies… does the cycle of responsibility ever end? Well, probably eventually but I don’t think I want That Ending right now.
To handle anxiety in the fitness industry I ran… maybe it’s running away from problems or negative self-talk or maybe its running toward untapped goals and future dreams and aspirations... I know they are out there and if things could slow down for just a bit perhaps I can start to attain them…grrrr...
None-the-less, for me to handle the responsibility, I ran, I did other fitness venues too, after all my major in college was Physical Education and Exercise Science, (to this day I think my parents still tell people I do sit-ups for a living) but for me it was always running – or really cardio of any kind – enter step aerobics! Water aerobics! Slide… anyone?…anyone? After training for my second marathon and having my good friend show up to work with major road rash from literally crashing on a sidewalk during an early morning run I began to rethink.
I committed to our yoga class offered at the fitness club where I was the Fitness Director (yes I was in charge of the yoga program but had yet to experience it… it wasn’t running was it???) This time I was going to commit 2x/week, Ashtanga Yoga… I loved it! Well most of it - I still needed to do my 45 minutes of cardio prior to attending, I really wasn’t comfortable chanting at the beginning and end of the class and then, when the instructor needed to take a break because the “moons” weren’t in alignment to teach the class, I knew I needed to embark on my yoga journey. (Remember I need to be in charge)
And embark I did, I researched and found a fabulous instructor who was right up my alley in terms of merging fitness with Yoga – I got my level 1 training… level 2… Master Trainer with YogaFit!! Level 3 and the story continues. Advance many years ahead, more fitness trainings, enter Pilates and even more trainings yet my path always maintained some ties to Yoga. NOW I have it!! My “secret formula” my Running is now barefoot on a Yoga Mat! Join me for a Yoga Program that is energizing and invigorating; that respects the Core (hello Joseph Pilates – everything flows from a beautiful center) and of course is FITNESS based, the glue that ties it all together where we can Move With STRENGTH, STRETCH, BALANCE and BREATH.
If you’re still reading – we need to met. Join me on my path to a balanced, energizing and centered life (well most days). See you soon for In-Person Training OR Virtually!
